The American Alliance of Museums hosted a webinar where they explained the possible future of museums across the country. For years, this fear has been laughed off because as everyone knows, flying is the safest way to get from one place to another. Unlike other historic, yet revolutionary discoveries and inventions – like fertilizer, air conditioning, or aviation – oil and gas has not been able to quietly age into an unsung hero of modern life. Instead, the industry and its nearly 11 million American workers have been villainized and rejected by the very people who reap the benefits of oil and gas.
These decisive actions are exactly what the American people voted for in 2024. It is great to see a president prioritizing national security and law enforcement instead of other less critical initiatives. While the implementation of these orders has and will face undue opposition from the left, everyone in the Trump administration seems to understand how bad the situation at the border is.
The issue some lawmakers and teachers have with Project 2025 regarding the DOE is the funding the DOE provides to thousands of local schools and programs through its $80 billion budget. From supporting public school programs, students with disabilities, and providing student loans for college, these people may be vulnerable if a ban passes.
A major legal issue that federal unions and lawyers are addressing is the fact that the lump sum that’s being promised may not be given to the employees who accept, since only Congress has the authority to approve the budget and payments, not the executive branch.
The Baylor Lariat reached out to Baylor’s Financial Aid office to comment on the initial ban, Lori Fogleman the Assistant VP of Public Relations, provided the emailed statement below from Dr. Kevin Chambliss the Vice Provost of Research at Baylor, detailing Baylor University’s approach to the freeze.
We’re living in a world where a figure involved with the new administration does a Nazi salute at the presidential inauguration, books about government censorship are being banned by the government and cities are destroyed during “peaceful” protests. We’ve seen this unfold before. Make no mistake, political extremism is alive and and well, feeding off strategically placed propaganda running rampant through our media.
Sitting 80 years from the reign of concentration camps, some of the most influential people in the world have accepted, forgiven and laughed off a gesture that insulted generations. Hundreds of news publications and thousands of people stated their disbelief, but their opinions were quickly swept under the rug when their reasoning was dubbed “wokeism.”
The belief is that these tariffs will help bring Canada and Mexico to the negotiating table, so President Trump can begin the process of bringing back more manufacturing jobs to the U.S.. However, this process might not be as cut and dry as it looks on paper.
It matters very little if you like Hegseth’s politics or you don’t. We should all be able to recognize that a seasoned military leader with senior experience is desperately needed. Rhetoric isn’t enough. Words alone don’t win wars. Leadership qualities, knowledge of military tactics and a high level of experience do. As it stands, Hegseth hasn’t shown that he has any of these traits, and defense secretary is too important a position to roll the dice on an outside hire.
Jones said it’s tragic that abortion became so politicized, but it is, and now it’s voters’ responsibility to bring about the change they want.
