Grief does not have to look like a bear going into hibernation for the winter or like a car crashing in slow motion — scenes in which an individual gradually self-destructs. It can, instead, manifest itself in numerous positive ways.

With Baylor students settling in during the first week of class, some might be wondering what to get involved in. Intramural sports present a ripe opportunity for anyone who feels like there isn’t much going on.

“Don’t get me wrong, I was lucky to be part of Baylor and compete in college tennis,” Matias Soto said. “It was four amazing years, but I was ready to move on to do what I wanted to do for such a long time: to be in the professional tour consistently.”

Freshman Vince Schneider traveled all the way from Mannheim, Germany, to play tennis for the Bears. Schneider reached the 2012 Doubles Finals in the German Championships, won both the singles and doubles competition in the 2012 ITF Tournament, and was named to the German Junior Davis Cup Team. As a Bear, Schneider has competed in both doubles and single matches in the Big 12.

Baylor men’s and women’s tennis dominated the weekend, winning both Big 12 Championship crowns.
For the seventh time overall, the Baylor women’s tennis team won the Big 12 Championship with a 4-1 victory over No. 25 Oklahoma State on Sunday at the Bayard H. Tennis Center.

Baylor’s men’s and women’s tennis teams will compete in the Big 12 Tennis Championships this weekend.
Both teams come into competition as No. 1 seeds in the tournament and both the men’s and women’s championships will be played April 24-27 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.

The celebrations and Gatorade showers were in full force Wednesday night at Hurd Tennis Center. Baylor men’s tennis clinched the school’s 55th conference Big 12 title across all sports with a 5-2 win over the Texas Longhorns.

The No. 7 men’s tennis team recorded its first conference win of the season with a 7-0 sweep of No. 28 Texas Tech Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
