The Fulbright Program, which offers U.S. government-funded experiences to recent college graduates, has been accepting more Bears than ever. Eighteen Baylor graduates received a 2024-2025 Fulbright scholarship and a record 48 have been named semi-finalists for the 2025-2026 school year.
Baylor has unveiled the Extend the Line scholarship initiative, a campaign aiming to raise $250 million by 2030 to enhance student scholarships and ensure that a Baylor education remains accessible and affordable.
“We exist with one foot in the Baylor world and one foot in the larger world of academic publishing,” Jarrell said. “It is our hope to serve both spheres, bridging excellence in our industry and prestigious service to our leadership while playing a role in furthering Baylor’s missional life as an R1 institution.”
The program, which targets high-GPA, high standardized test-scoring students, aims to inform invitees of what they can expect from their Baylor faculty and mentors.
For freshmen, these auditions could allow them to be accepted into the Baylor School of Music. This would then grant them the ability to pursue a music major, which, according to admissions and recruiting coordinator Callan Chappell, isn’t necessarily a requirement for musicians to pursue their passion at Baylor.
“Nobody’s dream should come to an end when it is of no fault of their own, and that’s why I think it’s very important that we do all we can to help those from these areas,” Dutschmann said.
Kissling said she is most looking forward to the day of the races when she can see the runners out on what is known as the “toughest course in Texas.”
“The Student Emergency Fund is not meant to be used as an additional scholarship application for when students are seeking more overall financial aid,” Miller said. “However, when those emergency moments happen that need to be covered, the Student Emergency Fund may be a viable resource.”
“The main changes with the new form should be really helpful once they get all of the kinks worked out. The fact that parents and students can each file their own form with the Department of Education then connecting those together is really helpful,” Rounke said.

Baylor’s McBride Center for International Business is offering a variety of study abroad opportunities this summer for students in the business school. The application deadline is March 1.
Many academic departments at Baylor offer departmental scholarships or other types of financial aid, yet students might forget about such opportunities and miss the chance to apply.
After being prompted by the late Dr. Joe Cox, Emily McWhirter finally applied for the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation’s student scholarship, despite personal reservations.
Now, since receiving the award after her mentor passed away, the Candenton, Mo., senior is glad she did.
Tuition is rising, but donations are flowing in.
Baylor received a $7 million gift from the estate of Baylor alumnus Richard Goode. The gift will benefit the Richard and Liesel Goode Endowed Academic Scholarship Fund.
