As Iowa hero Caitlin Clark walked off the court for the final time in Sunday’s women’s NCAA National Championship game, a sellout crowd and a nation of people sitting on the edge of their seats from home experienced the power of a game built on empowerment.

After the NCAA NIL Rule was passed in June 2021, there were talks of the NCAA Football franchise finally returning to gaming platforms now that students could benefit financially from their inclusion in the game. With over a decade of waiting, fans can finally look forward to the official release of NCAA 2025 this summer.

While sports gambling is legal in 38 states, with two more expected to launch later this year, Texas is one of the few where it is illegal and punishable as a Class C misdemeanor with a maximum fine of up to $500 — at least for now. Wednesday evening, Gaines visited Baylor to speak to students about how allowing transgender athletes to compete in collegiate sports goes against what Title IX vows to protect.

The NCAA has long been a controversial organization, often seen as a group solely focused on limiting the opportunities of student-athletes. However, the organization has been able to stay in the good graces of the public eye by boasting its educational results.

The Lady Bears crashed out of the NCAA tournament for the second-straight year in the Elite Eight, just one game short of the Final Four. Head coach Kim Mulkey did not think for a second to call the season a complete disappointment in the aftermath of her team’s loss in Oklahoma City. Quite the opposite, actually.
