Baylor’s 2025 United Way Campaign celebrates 100 years of United Way of Waco-McLennan County giving back to the McLennan County community. To celebrate and honor this accomplishment, the name for Baylor’s campaign this year is “100 for 100!” and the goal is to raise $100,000 among the Baylor community.

According to a press release issued by Cierra Shipley, a spokesperson for Waco PD, Odiong was arrested on July 16 by the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force. The arrest stemmed from a charge of possession of child pornography.

“I didn’t think there was any reason to be nervous since the last serious tornado in Waco was in the 1950s,” Tucker said. “I did have some pretty serious hail damage to my car; I definitely wasn’t expecting that, it didn’t seem like hail was a real possibility since it had been so hot earlier that week.”

The McLennan County representatives voted unanimously in favor of a new rural transit system Thursday evening at the McLennan County Courthouse.

After 20 years of sharing news, telling corny jokes and providing McLennan County with a wide variety of country music, local disc jockeys of Waco 100 country radio station Zack Owen and Jim Cody are throwing a party to tell their listeners “thank you” for all the years of tuning in.

Zack & Jim’s 20th Anniversary Blowout will take place at 6 p.m. this Saturday at the Extraco Events Center, featuring a concert including A-list country stars Easton Corbin and Dustin Lynch. The event is free and open to everyone, and floor seats to the concert are $6.

Some students were left wondering if the Homecoming bonfire could be lit this year after wildfires and drought across the state left McLennan County under a burn ban. The tradition will continue, though, as Waco is an incorporated region and the ban applies only to unincorporated regions of the county.

For some people in Waco, food is not an easy thing to find. The United States Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service defines food insecurity as a reduction in the quality, availability or desirability of food or a disruption in eating patterns and reduced food intake.

In keeping with its mission of providing a bridge between Baylor and the local community, the Baylor/Waco Foundation has begun fundraising for an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a McLennan County high school graduate beginning in the fall of 2012.
