“In class, students can get caught up in grades and deadlines,” Linville said. “Here it’s just about experimenting and trying things out. The Riso helps show that creative work doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.”

Research finds that noise can significantly impact cognitive performance. For instance, high noise levels may hinder focus, while moderate noise can enhance creativity and problem-solving.
It is unknown when the elevators might be back up. Until then, students who need it are encouraged to use the elevator in Jones Library to navigate between the first and second floors. The garden level and third floor of the Library will not be ADA-accessible until elevators are fixed.
Titled “Speaking in the Vernacular,” the exhibit will be in the Jesse H. Jones Library through May. It is the first of its kind to feature three-dimensional pieces, and it includes a wide array of art mediums — from photographs to German wheelbarrows.
