While basketball will continue as the pavilion’s main form of entertainment in this new semester, the center will soon open its doors to music, comedy and entertainment fans for a series of ten professional, affordable entertainment performances over the next two years.

SGAF funding can be used for all types of campus groups, ranging from Greek organizations to cultural clubs and anything in between. The SGAF has provided funding for events like Pi Beta Phi’s “Howdy,” fraternity car washes, and even a luau. El Paso senior and Student Senate Finance Chair Aron Basurto said that Student Government prides itself on the diversity of the events it has funded.
This year’s event looked a little different than last year’s Howdy at the Hurd, which featured country star Bailey Zimmerman, axe-throwing and a ferris wheel. Though, the same good cause was still at the heart of it all, according to Pi Beta Phi Howdy chair Madilyn Eckenrode.
Chill in the air or not, fall is upon us and so are the celebrations that come with it. This weekend in Waco is full of festivals to attend, so grab a friend and join the fun. Pi Beta Phi partnered with Baylor for Howdy at the Hurd Friday, allowing students to enjoy food trucks, a live concert from country star Bailey Zimmerman and more while marveling at the now-officially opened Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center.
Pi Beta Phi and Baylor are hosting Howdy at the Hurd at 7 p.m. on Friday. The event, which is free for students but requires tickets, will include line dancing, food trucks and a Bailey Zimmerman concert.

Howdy is an all-university event co-sponsored by Pi Beta Phi and the Baylor Activities Council and offers all Baylor students a chance to enjoy a fun night of boot scootin’ and country tunes.
