If you’re a part of the 45% of students in the College of Arts and Sciences, you’re all too familiar with credits for CAEs — Creative Arts Experiences. They’re intended to help students become engaged in art, music, theater, film and literature on campus. For some reason, All-University Sing and Pigskin Revue don’t fall under this category, even though there are hundreds of participants every year — from Sing chairs and stagehands to sororities and fraternities.

With October winding down and November soon to be upon us, it’s safe to say that the semester is flying by. We’re over halfway done, which might be either a source of relief to you or a harsh reality check. Either way, here’s some advice to keep in mind for the coming weeks.

As this new school year begins, let us never forget why the students before us picked the historic colors of green and gold that represent our beloved university. Baylor is built on the foundations of tradition, family and Christ, and it is known for its wonderful green and gold. Let us continue to fight for our gold.

Not only is this early game another in a continuing trend, but the 11 a.m. start time has also pushed the start time of the homecoming parade up by an hour. But I believe homecoming inspires a lot more feelings of warm fuzziness for the university than Dia does, with zero risk of sunburn and a whole lot less sweaty grossness.

The Baylor Bears’ record-setting season has created an influx of students at The Case.

The homecoming game against Iowa State produced the second-largest student crowd Floyd Casey Stadium has ever had, with 8,900 students attending. This is just behind the 2011 University of Texas game, where 9,000 students showed up.

Homecoming is a time to remember the past and celebrate the present. The Baylor Chamber of Commerce wants to help students, parents and staff do exactly this.

Chamber is putting together Friday Night Flashback, a display showcasing various Baylor homecoming traditions as well as Baylor history in general.

University libraries are a few of the many campus-wide organizations set to host homecoming events this Saturday in an effort to welcome back Baylor alumni. The Armstrong Browning Library, the Texas Collection and the W.R. Poage Legislative Library have all planned special exhibits and activities designed to celebrate Baylor alumni and the history of the University.
