In today’s world, where headphones, cellphones and endless scrolling dominate daily life, the simple act of saying “Hi, how are you?” and “Good morning” is long gone. Streets, neighborhoods and stores are busier than ever, yet somehow quieter at the same time. Places that once felt lively now feel like spaces we merely pass through while running errands. Even brief, casual conversations with people we encounter have nearly gone extinct.

As I graduate and apply to medical schools this May, I am confidently going into my future recognizing that I have not only maximized my chances of earning an acceptance to medical school, but I have ultimately prepared myself to solve the problems of the world.

Baylor student government is aiming to support college students and campus organizations who exhibit leadership skills with its new leadership development grants. The application is open to students and organizations who are under 25 years old and wish to further pursue their ambitions with additional funding. The deadline to apply is May 31.
“There is, of course, Baylor University’s new Foster basketball pavilion and the supporting infrastructure that goes with that, which includes a parking garage,” Rutherford said. “As well as some residential and restaurant/retail space … there is a park in the middle, which is traditionally where the farmers market has operated, and then we will have two riverfront restaurants that overhang the river, and then we have a hotel that is just west of the park space.”
Despite the diverse opinions, a 2016 Baylor study found that the culture of “Ring by Spring” attributed to Christian colleges, can often leave students feeling pressured to commit to lifelong relationships prior to graduation.
The wheels are in motion to develop a part of Waco that Baylor students and Waco citizens alike will be able to enjoy.
The Brazos Riverfront project has been proposed by the city of Waco and taken up by developers Rick Sheldon and Joe Beard. The project would bring in business to the Brazos riverfront area and the Waco economy.
