The sun beat down hot on the shoulders of Dallas junior Carson Sheldon as he made his way down I-35 on April 13 — not in a car or truck, but in a pair of On Cloud running shoes. After six long, sweaty hours and a whopping 38 miles, Sheldon became the first known person to run from Baylor to the Buc-ee’s in Temple.

“I think Waco is so special and the fact that there are so many different mission organizations you can be a part of,” Biles said.”It requires work and sacrifice, but the rewards are eternal. We can help and love people better in small steps. Be interruptible and have a margin of allowing yourself the time to like let other people to come into your life and learn from them.”

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, gratitude and giving back. For those looking to make a difference in the Waco community this season, here are five meaningful opportunities. Whether it’s volunteering or donating, do your part in giving back to and supporting our Waco.

When Choudhury was brainstorming a theme and lineup for the show, she was looking at significant dates around the beginning of September and found that Sept. 6 was National Food Bank Day. Choudhury then pitched the idea of creating a “Show for a Cause” to Thomas, and they decided that attendees would be able to bring cans to donate to the show in exchange for a discounted ticket.

Poverty is a global epidemic. According to the most recent World Bank estimates, 17 percent of people in the developing world live on less than $1.25 a day, which adds up to over a billion people.

In a few short weeks, another senior class at Baylor will embark into the real world, with many accepting jobs as professionals in various fields around the country and world.
