The Bears, who finished 14th in the final regular season AP Top 25 Poll, were one of six Big 12 teams to be ranked in the final installment, which was more than any other conference. Now, they’re hoping to use that fierce level of competition in the Big 12 Tournament to further prepare them for March Madness.

The first-ever Sic ‘Em Slam is bringing poetry and spoken word to the Barfield Drawing Room from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. The Baylor Activities Council and the Division of Student Life are hosting the showcase in an effort to create awareness of the diversity of experiences on campus, inviting students, faculty and staff to share their stories through the art form.

Baylor (5-11, 0-3 Big 12) was firing on all cylinders as it tallied a season-high in runs and hits with 17 apiece. For the second time this year, all nine starters notched at least one hit and five Bears recorded multi-hit games. The bats were led by senior catcher Harrison Caley, who swatted a career-high in hits, going 4-for-4 — including two home runs. Caley became the first Baylor batter since 2019 to chalk up seven RBIs.
