Netflix’s new series, “Squid Game,” is a Korean drama that follows Seong Gi-hun, Cho Sang-woo and hundreds of others as they accept a strange invitation to compete in children’s games. Inside awaits a tempting prize with deadly high stakes — a survival game that has a whopping $40 million prize.
Many hoped that Ben Platt, at the age of 28, could still fit the bill as Evan Hansen, a high school student, but he just missed the mark.
Gone are the days of dropping everything to catch a show, or stressing to record it for later. Now that movies and TV are available from any device at any time, people watch programming on their own schedule, marking a significant shift in the dynamic between Hollywood and the consumer.

“We took a look at the story and our resources, and we decided to rework the vision of the film,” Sam Henderson, theater and film lecturer, said. “Originally, if we had made it in 2020, it would’ve been a very different film. I think what we made this May of 2021 is actually a better version.”
The idea of “Cinderella” with a modern, feminist twist is a good one, especially today, but the idea was poorly executed in this case.
“Shang-Chi” seemed to have had no problem attracting swarms of viewers to the cinema. I sat in a nearly full theater, and even while masked up, the impression of normalcy was present.
“Only Murders in the Building” leaves its viewers visually satisfied and simultaneously entertained, so be sure and add it to your list of shows to binge this fall.
As an avid book reader and movie-goer, I’ve never been a fan of remakes or reboots in general, because, as many can agree, they do not usually live up to their original counterparts. However, after watching the film, I feel that while the movie did not live up to the works of the original, it was very entertaining.
If you’re looking for a movie that doesn’t contain jump scares and won’t leave you confounded once the credits roll, I would say “Candyman” is perfect for you.
