Austin City Limits is one of Texas’ most famous music festivals. After getting canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, people came from close, far and in between to be back at Zilker Park for a weekend of fun, music and food.

Originally, I did not plan to rush — until a couple of weeks before the registration deadline. It is the best decision I have ever made in my college experience.

This past weekend, Waco Haunted House began its first season under new ownership and a new name: American Scare Grounds. But don’t let the name change fool you. Bobby Crane, the new owner and president of American Scare Grounds, said he wants to continue to build on the original owners’ legacy.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing our grounds full of smiling faces again,” Chavra Ingram, HOT vice president of marketing and sponsorship development, said. “We missed everybody last year and we are just so excited to be open and have everybody come back this year.”

If you like milk tea, coffee, smoothies or even creme brulee, I would recommend stopping by 1102. The atmosphere is cute, the workers are nice and there are a lot of items on the menu to choose from.

“I want to be a physical therapist at Baylor,” Longview junior Kayla Escalante said. “Even though it’s not easy, I know I am supposed to be here, and I know what’s going to be better for my education and my son.”

Throughout the years that the course has been offered, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been given back to the Waco community. Cuevas Peacock — Baylor assistant director of community relations – cultural wealth — said the class has helped students become more aware of the work happening in the Waco community.

In the blink of an eye, it seemed as though I became a senior in college after navigating a global pandemic, dissecting a presidential election and acing classes that were taught in hybrid situations.

Waco Police Department spokesperson Cierra Shipley said that the uptick in theft can be attributed to the return of students to Baylor’s campus. She said this increase isn’t unusual, as Waco PD always sees a slight increase in theft cases when the new school year begins.

The “Devious Lick” TikTok trend — which encourages students in middle schools and high schools to steal and vandalize the school and post it online — has spread rapidly throughout the country, with dozens of school districts issuing warnings to students if they continue to participate.

Practicing life as a homebody provides benefits to your structure as a student and a socially active being. There are many factors to be implemented that enforce you to appreciate your space while enabling self-care.
