Full statement: Thirteenth Annual StompFest Competition correction

On Friday, April 5th, the 13th Annual Stompfest Competition occurred in Waco Hall. Seven spectacular teams competed in a step-‐show to win funds for a charity of their choice. Four sororities and three independent organizations took the stage to present an act that was centered on a song by the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Each act was judged, awards were given to the winners of each category and an audience favorite was chosen as well.

At this time, the Department of Student Activities and the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated would like to acknowledge and correct an error that occurred during the awards presentation of the Stompfest 2013 winners. In the course of the show, the Asian Student Association was announced as the winners of the independent category. Contrary to Friday’s announcement, the Baylor Transfer Council had earned a higher score from the judges. Although this mistake was unintentional, we understand the need to clarify the official results.

As BTC representative Jonathan Tunwar said, each organization was stepping “not for a name, but for a cause”. In recognition of this, both BTC and ASA will receive equal amounts of prize money to donate to their specific philanthropies, the American Cancer Society and Fuzzy Friends, respectively. However, we will rightfully award BTC the title of 1st place winners of the independent category.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the Department of Student Activities are committed to upholding the integrity, excitement, and competition of this excellent event, therefore, we acknowledge and take responsibility for the error.
