“Pay incentives can lead to jealousy among faculty members,” Cox said, observing that the system could unintentionally favor teachers with smaller or more advanced classes, sparking concerns about fairness.
“The events and celebrations are important because they expose the public to something rich and unique,” he said. “But for me, the real impact comes when we meet someone with a different life experience and heritage, listen to understand their way, and at the same time realize that our humanity binds us. Our differences just add to that wealth of understanding,” Crumpton said.
While some students have been preparing their arrangements for over a year and a half in advance, others started the process in the spring. Most of the pieces that will be showcased in the concert will be taken from movies or musicals such as “How to Train Your Dragon” and “WALL-E,” Smith said.
This energetic group, based on South Asian and Bollywood style dance traditions, is not solely about the skill — it’s about community, culture and creativity.
With all eyes on them after their first place win this past Sing season, Kappa Omega Tau prepares not only to defend their title, but to have fun while doing it.
“Our chapter motto is brotherhood above all,” Meck said. “Our purpose is putting together something that we’re proud of and to have fun with. And we hope that the audience will have fun with us and be entertained by what we put together.”
“The smaller size, combined with an extremely supportive culture leads to more opportunities than one could imagine,” Ghaffar said.
“I heard someone say [that] you’ll never regret working out. I’ve tried to disprove that, but I think [it’s] true,” Oliver said.
“The movie had such a vast impact,” Deonath said. “I really don’t think people understood the depth of what Elvis actually did for pop culture, and the music industry.”
