There isn’t any grass on the field at McLane Stadium, and few seats have been placed in the stands, yet project managers said they are sure in four months Baylor football will have its new home.

Hundreds of jobs are now available to the community for McLane Stadium, which opens in August. Baylor has formed new relationships with companies in the management of the new stadium, and a number of those companies will be hiring hundreds of new workers.
Thousands of people will make their way to Baylor’s campus come football season with the opening of McLane Stadium. With this comes several changes to game day, such as parking and tailgating. Baylor administrators have worked to plan for these activities for the past few months.
Attorneys representing the family of the construction worker killed at the McLane Stadium site filed a second temporary restraining order Monday afternoon against the university and companies building the stadium.
With opening day roughly seven months away, McLane Stadium is rapidly starting to take shape.
The athletic department hopes the new facility will improve the game day experience for players and fans, while leaving a smaller carbon footprint in the process.

As an observer sitting in the Student Senate meeting last Thursday, I was confounded as senior student senator Trenton Garza explained students’ view on this move to be somewhat “controversial” on the part of our university regents. Garza essentially argued that the bill, “thanking” the McLane family for their generous donation by using the McLane moniker on the stadium, should not be passed because the use of his namesake was not a condition of the McLane family’s philanthropic deed.
One man remains unaccounted for Tuesday evening after two construction workers were dragged to the bottom of the Brazos River while building the bridge that will connect McLane Stadium and the Baylor Law School.

The blustery winds Thursday forced a temporary change of plans for construction at the McLane Stadium building site. The last steel truss was scheduled for installation Thursday with a “topping out ceremony” complete with catered lunch, a raffle, a few words from Director of Athletics Ian McCaw and a tree. President Ken Starr and Brian Nicholson, who is the Associate Vice President for Facility, Planning and Construction, were among university administrators in attendance.
