The sorority’s overall goal for the year is to raise $200,000 to go toward their philanthropy. DHOP costed $10 for an event pass and those who paid received pancakes and their names put into a raffle to earn a gift card and other prizes. Along with these, the event included merchandise such as t-shirts and stickers that were designed by a local St. Jude’s patient.

East Village Residential Community was formally dedicated Friday to Baylor in honor of late alumni Dr. Gordon Teal, an American scientist, and Hallie Earle, the first female graduate of Baylor Medical School in Dallas. Members of the Teal and Earle families were present at the dedication and were recognized.

East Village was opened at the beginning of this semester and includes two residential buildings, Earle Hall and Teal Residential College. Earle Hall is home to the Science & Health Living-Learning Center and Teal Residential College is home to the Residential College for Engineering and Computer Science.

The Baylor University Board of Regents met today and approved names for buildings in East Village as well as spending measures for a new business school building and a new track facility.

The Gordon Teal Residential College, the north building, will be housing for engineering and computer science students. The south building has been named Hallie Earle Hall and will house the Science and Health Living and Learning Community. The middle building will serve as dining and administrative space and will be called East Village Dining Commons.

Baylor will soon be getting a new business school building capable of promoting a 21st century learning environment.

The new 275,000-square-foot facility will be located on a development area close to the East Village, west of Bagby Avenue and between Third Street and Fourth Street.

While the plans aren’t final, they will likely call for adding additional student lounge and study spaces, improving bathrooms, replacing floors and ceilings and improving the technological capacities of the residence halls. The plan would be implemented over the next 15 to 20 years.
