Social media comes with some unwritten rules, not the least of which is to watch what you post. It’s no secret that what you post, especially offensive and hateful content, stays with you forever.

The official Twitter feed for Diadeloso 2014 announced Friday that Christian alternative rock band Needtobreathe would be headlining the festivities on April 10.
Good music is defined by an individual’s taste. That being said, popular music is measured by the charts and according to the charts, Baylor has not recently booked any currently popular artists.
“In comparison with schools like UT [University of Texas at Austin], our campus is not smaller and not in a major city like Dallas or Austin,” said Dr. Kirk Wakefield, professor of retail marketing and holder of the Edwin W. Streetman Professorship in Retail Management. “Here in Waco we don’t have the draw to bands that bigger colleges near bigger cities have.”
Since the fertilizer plant explosion Wednesday in West, students have responded swiftly with prayers, donations and relief for victims.
The musical entertainment portion of Diadeloso had a different purpose this year. Rather than just celebrating the end of the semester, the Diadeloso final concert became another way for the Waco community to remember and raise money for those affected by the explosion in West.
Baylor and Waco police will be present on and off campus during Thursday’s Diadeloso celebration.
Lori Fogleman, director of media communications, said she did not know whether there will be more police officers stationed off-campus than usual; however, she said student leaders, such as residence hall community leaders, have received communication from the office of Kevin Jackson, vice president for student life, telling them to encourage students to stay safe and responsible.
It’s the day students look forward to all year: Diadeloso.
Thursday, classes are canceled and students have the opportunity to see bands, armadillos and a monkey on campus.
Though many Baylor students may be familiar with the use of Five For Fighting’s song “Chances” in the popular film “The Blind Side,” or have heard the band’s songs “Superman” and “100 Years” coming through their car radio, they can now experience the band live in concert.
At 8 p.m. Thursday on Fountain Mall, Five For Fighting will take the stage as the headlining act for Diadeloso, though Thursday’s weather forecast of the possibility of severe thunderstorms might complicate events.
With the temperatures rising, it’s important to remember to hydrate. Today’s high is set to be 88 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Dehydration is a real and sometimes fatal problem in hot weather. It can be caused through fluid loss by vomiting, diarrhea, excessive urination or perspiration, and or inadequate intake of fluids, according Texas Department of State Health Services.
Five for Fighting will perform as the headliner during next week’s Diadeloso, Baylor Chamber confirmed Thursday night. The news was leaked after students noticed a tweet from Five for Fighting singer John Ondrasik, which said “Just locked in a last minute gig at @Baylor next Thursday Apr. 18th. What Up Bears? #54F.”
A week before Baylor’s Diadeloso celebration, no headliner has been announced.
Diadeloso chair Pauline Minnaar said the delay was a publicity strategy to draw attention to the other events. However, a tweet from the band may have ruined the surprise.
Banners promoting the event are up around campus, but no announcement has yet been made as to who will headline Baylor’s Diadeloso celebration.
With Diadeloso coming up in less than a week and no headliner announced, students are left wondering what their entertainment will be.
On Diadeloso in 1996, Baylor hosted its first on-campus dance, forever lifting a ban on dancing at the largest Baptist university in the world.
Now nearly 17 years later, students dance to the beat of their own drum by the hundreds in banana suits, sombreros, Speedos and other costumes.
Between Diadeloso celebrations and a string of home invasions over the weekend, the Baylor Police Department has had its hands full.
The students have spoken and Baylor has three new officers in next year’s student government.
Thursday was Diadeloso, the one day of the year every student looks forward to. Filled with warm Texas weather, relaxation and entertainment, Dia provides students with a time to celebrate being a Baylor Bear.
Fountain Mall will again host Diadeloso. Check out the schedule!
Most Baylor students anticipate one thing during the spring semester: Diadeloso. This year’s headliner for the event will be Parachute.
Diadeloso is right around the corner, and already the university has a full day of entertainment lined up.
A Baylor administrator announced plans are in the works to refurbish five of the university’s residence halls over a 15- to 20-year period at Thursday’s Student Senate meeting.
There’s one part of Diadeloso that students don’t get a chance to take part in: the selection of who gets to perform at the main stage.
Nike shorts are everywhere. We get it. That fashion faux pas has been around for years and everyone has made their comment. Sperrys, V-necks and leggings under Nike shorts can even be dismissed as a part of Baylor fashion that has not run its trend out just yet. But can the XXL T-shirts, side pony tails and cankle-covering socks have their time in the limelight critique?
With people doing the Bernie, Dougie and learning how to wobble, it might be hard to believe that the Baylor dance ban was lifted only 15 years ago.
This year Baylor kicked off Diadeloso with possibly the largest official Zumba class ever held in the world.

Campaign season has been largely unproblematic so far this year — with only one charge brought against a student government candidate — which some believe is a result of the recent revisions to the electoral code. The season will begin wrapping up today, with voting beginning at 8 a.m.
Although writing evokes images of seclusion, The Phoenix literary magazine is building a community revolving around a passion for prose and poetry.
Diadeloso will feature music, meals, and merriment.
On Diadeloso, Baylor students will have the chance to make history by participating in a Zumba class that organizers hope will be the world’s largest. While the event is an attempt at an appearance in the Guinness World Records, it is also a fundraiser for the accounting students’ mission trip to Uganda this summer.
The residence halls are competing in an energy conservation tournament that began on March 21 and ends May 1.
