An ominous black flag hangs from the Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility with a skull and crossbones that reads, “The beatings will continue until morale improves.” It’s 6 a.m. and every young Baylor football player knows he is about to face an hour and a half of the most brutal, torturous workout he can possibly imagine.

The Baylor volleyball team earned its first Big 12 Conference win on Wednesday night against Texas Tech. After facing four consecutive ranked opponents and starting the season 0-4 in conference, the Bears showed resiliency and earned a victory against Texas Tech at the Ferrell Center.

The No. 20 Baylor women’s soccer team will travel the country roads to Morgantown, W.V. to take on the No. 25 West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers are 9-3-3 on the season and 5-0 in Big 12 play. They have not lost a game since Aug 31, but the Bears’ unbeaten streak stretches back to Aug. 26.

The Baylor equestrian team is coming off of a National Championship last season and the win of their first event of the 2012 season, The Willis Invitational. With all of their success, it is only appropriate that Baylor Nation is educated on what exactly it is that the team does. The team rides in both Western and English styles, competing in two events from each category.

Losing in the Elite Eight in two of the past three seasons has left this Baylor men’s basketball team hungry.

The players believe that the program is at a level now where making the NCAA tournament is a given, and tournament runs are expected.

In 2010, the Bears lost to eventual national champion Duke.

Wednesday marked a monumental day in baseball history. Miguel Cabrera, the Detroit Tigers third baseman, accomplished what baseball players only dream about. He won baseball’s coveted Triple Crown. Cabrera became the first player in forty-five years to accomplish this feat, leading the American League with 44 home runs, a .330 batting average and 139 RBIs.

As a fifth-year senior, Baylor receiver Lanear Sampson has witnessed the transformation of Baylor football first-hand. From the 2008 season when the Bears went 4-8 in head coach Art Briles’ first season to winning 10 games and being Alamo Bowl champs, Sampson has helped usher in a new era of Baylor football.

There are no easy games in conference play.

The No. 25 women’s soccer team has played three conference games so far, and all of them have come down to the wire.

The most recent game was a 3-2 win over Texas Tech to move the team to 11-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
