The 29th-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team beat the Wichita State Shockers 6-1 Friday. The win brings the Bears to 12-4 this season.

“I thought some guys played well,” head coach Matt Knoll said. “We had some good spots. Doubles was certainly great. I think after the first sets and halfway through the second, I thought it was a really good day. We kind of lost our momentum and focus down the stretch and didn’t finish as well as we would’ve liked, but a lot of guys got some wins and I thought it was a positive day.”

The Baylor Bears defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils on Friday night at the Ferrell Center 89-86 to advance to the third round of the NIT. Senior point guard Pierre Jackson put on a show for the home fans by scoring 26 points and racking up a career-high 16 assists in the victory.

The Baylor baseball team opens up Big 12 Conference play on the road in a three-game weekend series against the No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Bears will take on the Cowboys on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.

The track and field team is hosting its first home meet of the season in the Baylor Quad Invitational today, an all-day outdoor event at the Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex.

The invitational meet will start at 11 a.m. with running events commencing at 1:30 p.m. The meet concludes at 5:20 this evening with the 4×400-meter relays.

The path for a consecutive National Title begins at 6:30 p.m. Sunday as the No. 1 Baylor Lady Bears play No. 16 Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers in the Ferrell Center in the first game of the NCAA Tournament.

The Baylor Bears defeated the Long Beach State 49ers 112-66 Wednesday at the Ferrell Center and advanced to the second round of the NIT.

“I thought it was a great way to start a tournament,” head coach Scott Drew said. “Obviously we did a lot of things well, starting with 31 assists and only 14 turnovers, shooting 63 percent and holding them to 33 percent. I thought we played like a weight was off of our shoulders and we really made a lot of extra passes and played well. In the last two games at home, I think we’ve really played well at home.”
