Baseball is a game of streaks — losing streaks and hitting streaks, slumps on the mound or at the plate, maybe even an unusually high number of consecutive wins. Baylor baseball has learned a thing or two about that when looking back on the 2012 season and a craze that stormed through Waco: “Feed the beaver.”

The Hall of Fame head coach — formerly at the helm for Baylor — officially introduced the Grant Teaff Foundation as well as the Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award on Tuesday afternoon at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

All 12 players who saw the court made a shot as No. 9 Baylor men’s basketball routed Nicholls 108-70 Tuesday night in the Ferrell Center. The blowout win came with fan-favorite senior forward Austin Sacks (3) outscoring the team’s leading scorer entering the contest, freshman guard Ja’Kobe Walter (2).

With a disappointing 2023 Baylor football season in the rearview mirror, the offseason has officially begun. However, the Bears’ campaign — which saw them go 1-7 at home — combined with the early portion of the offseason has left a sour taste in the mouths of some of the Baylor faithful.

Redshirt junior quarterback Blake Shapen played three seasons with the Bears, including two years as the starter, after beating out Gerry Bohanon for the 2022 job.

Head coach Dave Aranda will be sticking around in Waco, but not with the same staff he had during a disappointing 2023 season.
