Despite a decrease in nearly all types of crime in Waco, narcotics offenses have risen 21% since 2022, according to Waco PD’s Crime Statistics Report. This number reveals the complicated reality of drug use and abuse in Waco and the U.S.

Outdoor Adventure is gearing up for this year’s spring break trips, in which students can travel to national parks and lace up their boots for hiking, rock climbing, canoeing and mountain biking excursions. Cody Schrank, associate director of Outdoor Adventure, said while the Utah trips filled up within the first 15 minutes, there are still spots available for those interested in going to Arkansas. As Steve Irwin would say, “Share my wildlife with me,” and you too, can share in the beauty of the outdoors.

The College of Arts and Sciences hosted a panel titled “Climate Change in the 21st Century” on Monday, featuring two researchers who discussed their thoughts on climate change with a focus on how it exacerbates the spread of infectious diseases.

Currently, the U.S. Census Bureau employs two income-based poverty measures to gauge poverty rates: the Official Poverty Measure and the Supplemental Poverty Measure. Neither measure, the researchers said, tells the full story.

“It’s just going to be a wild ride, seeing everything about it,” Lozuk said. “There’s going to be a lot of changes…. In the next couple of months, they’re going to start getting more independent and start trying to be on their own a little bit.”
