Baylor’s newest faculty member presented her first lecture as the visiting distinguished professor of religion and public life, discussing her experiences as a Christian and theorist Wednesday.
Last year, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in America. One out of eight women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, according to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

In addition to Baylor’s newest physicist Dr. Marlan Scully this week, the university announced a new partnership with influential social theorist Dr. Jean Bethke Elshtain, who will give her first lecture today as a Baylor faculty member and visiting distinguished professor of religion and public life.
The Baylor community will have a chance to travel back in time and learn Thursday about the spiritual sparks that ignited the founding of Baylor.

All Are Neighbors, held in the Cashion Academic Center, drew 270 ticketed attendees, totaling 352 people, including VIP guests and speakers, nearly filling all available seats. The event was created in response to TPUSA’s presence on campus, but speakers and organizers consistently emphasized that the gathering was not merely reactive. Instead, it functioned as a faith-centered call to action, rooted in Christian teaching and expressed through civic engagement.

The low hum of steel guitars and neon-lit nostalgia will soon echo through Foster Pavilion. On Oct. 2, Baylor will trade sneakers and basketballs for cowboy boots and two-stepping when rising country artist Braxton Keith brings his high-and-lonesome Texas sound to Waco with the “Real Damn Deal” tour.
