I was pleasantly surprised today when I picked up the Baylor Lariat — as I always do — and saw an article over campus gaming culture. I found the article very insightful and a positive reflection of the gaming subculture that is apparent at Baylor, but I noticed there was an underlying cry of need.
Most transfers can agree that while choosing to go to Baylor may have been an easy decision, the journey getting here was an uphill battle. Once the financial aspect is worked out, another hurdle arrives — transferring credits.
With nearly 500 community college transfers within the student body, Baylor makes it difficult for them to seamlessly transition into their new school.
I have played fantasy football every year since eighth grade and there are some trends that have formed that need to be corrected. I don’t pretend to have any kind of authority on the matter, but my suggestions might make your own fantasy football league a more fun and entertaining environment.
One thing that sucks the fun out of a lot of leagues is when a team owner keeps their default team name. Nobody wants to play Team DeVries. That’s boring. Teams need real names.
Victims of rape and sexual assault now have expanded opportunities on where they can go for treatment and collection of a rape kit thanks to SB 1191 that went into effect on Sept 1.
This bill requires all hospitals with an emergency room have staff trained in basic forensic evidence collection from sexual assault victims.
It is important to note that the standard set in SB 1191 is less rigorous then what is required for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. There are currently two SANEs practicing in McLennan County and a total of 312 in the entire state.
Throughout history technological innovations have often led to greater efficiency in our daily lives.
Whether those advances occurred during the industrial revolution or in this time period, the world is constantly changing as a result of these advances.
Creating and developing new technologies is important because it continues to make life more efficient.
Parking at any college is a hassle. While Baylor does have plenty of options all over campus, it always seems like there’s never a spot left.
The last thing anyone needs to see after a long day of classes is a parking ticket strapped underneath the windshield wiper and the “faculty only” sign right above the hood, now that it’s too late.
Some have taken an alternative to the typical mode of transportation. Mopeds, which are essentially lower-power motorcycles, offer trendier ways of jetting across campus without the fuss of a regular-sized vehicle.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Except for when they’re not. Siding with one of two forces hostile to American interests will not strengthen our foreign policy.
What do most Americans know about Syria?
It’s a country on the other side of the world, someone may tell you, and that’s often the extent of their knowledge.
Others will accurately recognize that our relationship with the Syrian regime led by President Bashar Assad is not friendly.
I am disappointed that there were no means by which I could cast my vote for the Baylor Transition Agreement this past weekend.
A few weeks ago I received a mailer stating, “You will come to Waco Hall to cast your vote.” Much as I love having any reason to visit Baylor, this trip was an impossibility both for myself and I’m sure countless others.
I find it hard to believe that with Baylor alum like myself scattered around the country and world (and in our technologically-driven time) that there were not more options considered for casting our votes.
