The Texas “trigger law,” set to make abortion illegal in the state 30 days after the U.S. Supreme Court’s judgment overturning Roe v. Wade, will take effect Thursday. This law is called The Texas Human Life Protection Act.

The first week of college, whether you are a first-year student or a graduate student, can be very stressful. Many students might like to spend this first week back connecting with friends, exploring the town or going to parties, which is all well and good. But what do these activities and parties really contribute to your life? You can make more friends and decompress before the year begins, but wouldn’t you rather save yourself yearlong stress by sacrificing a week of your time and effort?

Lady has reportedly been holding up well after her sister and fellow mascot, Joy, died on July 18. She has been going about her daily enrichments without any discomfort, staying strong after losing her companion of 20 years.

Prism, an LGBTQ+ and allies student organization, is focusing its efforts on “continuous learning for the Baylor community, giving voice for LGBTQ+ students to the administration and creating opportunities for all students to access resources through connection, belonging and education.”

As Monkeypox case counts continue to rise, Dr. Matt Muramoto, Baylor Health Services staff physician, said the university’s policies for monkeypox are under review and will likely be in place by the beginning of the semester.

“If it sparks your interest, but you’re not sure if you would like to try it out or not, I would say try it out, because there’s no better place than to learn something new with Outdoor Adventure,” Heinecke said. “Everyone knows what they’re doing. You’ll make friends and really strong bonds.”

Movie lovers can be divided over what makes a good film. Is it explosions, or is it explosive romance? Is it attention to detail and plot, or is it the way the movie makes you feel that really matters? Two Baylor students weighed in with their opinions.

It’s a new school year, but not a new you. Don’t reinvent yourself; just work smarter at making this your year. It doesn’t matter if this is your first year on Baylor’s campus, your last or somewhere in between. This is the first truly normal year we’ve had as a collective student body since that one spring break that seemed to go on forever.

Every semester, the first day of classes is always predictable: go to class, find a seat, get the syllabus, leave 10 minutes early and throw the syllabus away on your way out because you will never use it again.

Gearing up for the first week of school can be a challenge for any student. After a lackadaisical summer off from studying, tests and quizzes, it can often be difficult for students to revamp their mindsets to be academically focused.
