The Baylor baseball team swept the Texas Longhorns over the weekend by winning all three games over the weekend.

“It’s always good to win and always good to win at home,” senior shortstop Jake Miller said. “We’ve got to take advantage of home field advantage. It’s huge and now that we’ve got a good winning streak going and with two road series, hopefully we can take advantage of that.”

The No. 14 Baylor Lady Bears took sole possession of third place in the Big 12 after a dramatic victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday.

Baylor won the series against the Jayhawks after splitting a double-header on Saturday.

“I am proud of the way this team fought through adversity,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “We treated this game with a lot of importance, so credit Kansas for giving us everything we could handle.”

The Baylor baseball team capped off a three-game sweep against the Texas Longhorns with a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark. For the last home Big 12 series, the Baylor seniors went out with a bang by sweeping Texas.

Senior shortstop Jake Miller was 2-4 and scored a run. Senior third baseman Cal Towey had two RBIs and was also 2-4. Senior right fielder Nathan Orf was 1-3 with a RBI as well.

It was a dramatic finish for No. 14 Baylor, but the Lady Bears came out on top with a 5-4 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday to take sole possession of third place in the Big 12.

Sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Thumann went 2-4 and hit a critical home run and a sharp hit in the seventh to score junior first baseman Holly Holl for a what would eventually be the winning run. Freshman infielder Robin Landrith continued her on-base streak, drawing two walks and hitting a key double.

The Baylor Bears defeated the Texas Longhorns 1-0 Saturday night at Baylor Ballpark and are looking to go for the three-game series sweep in tomorrow’s matinee game.

Sophomore starting right-handed pitcher Austin Stone took the mound for the Bears and pitched six scoreless frames and only allowed four hits. Stone also struck out a career-high 10 batters, which is also the most strikeouts that any Baylor pitcher has had so far this year. Stone was in complete control and only yielded three base on balls.

The No. 14 Baylor Lady Bears split its third consecutive double-header Saturday after defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 6-1 in the first game, but falling 6-5 in the second.

With the pressure on, Baylor continuously made plays in two-out situations. Of the 11 runs Baylor scored, 10 were scored when Baylor had two outs.

The Baylor Bears took advantage of four errors from the Texas Longhorns to walk away with a 6-2 victory in the first of the three-game weekend series Friday night.

The Baylor Bears host the Texas Longhorns this weekend for the last home Big 12 Conference baseball series of the season. The Bears are 21-20 overall and 8-6 in Big 12 play.

The Bears are currently fourth in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State.

After splitting back-to-back double headers against nonconference opponents, the No. 14 Baylor Lady Bears will resume conference play with a series against the Kansas Jayhawks today through Sunday in Lawrence, Kan.

“Going into the Kansas house, I know that they are always ready to play us,” senior center fielder Kathy Shelton said. “They always hit the ball well, so hopefully we just have it all together as a team and we go in there and get a sweep.”

It was a tale of two games at Tuesday’s double-header against the University of Houston Cougars. The No. 14 Baylor Lady Bears softball team won the first game 4-1, but the Cougars responded to split the series after 5-3 win over the Lady Bears.

The Baylor baseball team earned a come-from-behind 9-5 road victory over the Dallas Baptist Patriots on Tuesday night at Patriot Field. The Bears have now won six straight games against DBU.

The win bumps Baylor’s overall record to 21-20 and gives Baylor momentum heading into this weekend’s showdown series against the Texas Longhorns at Baylor Ballpark.

After splitting two games against North Texas, the No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears will play a double-header against the University of Houston Cougars at 4 p.m. today at Getterman Stadium before resuming conference play.

“These were important midweek games for us to be able to use our bullpen and bench,” head coach Glenn Moore said after the North Texas matchup. “Now we will take a few days off and come back ready for the final stretch of the season.”

The Baylor Bears lost a weekend series to TCU in Fort Worth two games to one. The Baylor baseball team was victorious 3-2 in the first game on Friday night and then lost 2-1 in 15 innings on Saturday before losing a close 5-4 contest on Sunday.

The Baylor Bears are just a half game out of first place in the Big 12 with a 7-4 conference record and a 19-18 overall record. Baylor travels north to Fort Worth this weekend for a crucial three-game weekend series against the TCU Horned Frogs.

The No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears split its double header against the North Texas Mean Green after suffering a 5-3 loss in the first game, in which Baylor lost a 3-0 lead. Baylor did respond in the second game with a 2-1 win despite the continuing offensive struggles.

Coming off a sweep of Oklahoma State, the No. 16 Lady Bears will take a break from Big 12 games to play a double-header against North Texas starting at 4 p.m. today in Lovelace Stadium in Denton.

The Lady Bears have already defeated North Texas twice this season in the Texas Shootout in late February. Baylor won the first game 8-3 and the second game 9-3.

The Baylor Bears lost 3-0 to the Texas State Bobcats on Tuesday in San Marcos. The Bears are now 19-18 on the season. The loss drops the Bears record to 5-2 against teams from the Western Athletic Conference this season. With the win, the Bobcats are now 16-20 overall on the year.

The Baylor Bears defeated the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners 12-10 on Sunday and won the series overall, two games to one. The Bears fell behind 9-4 and then scored eight runs total over the last two innings to earn the victory and to capture a crucial Big 12 series victory.

The No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears (33-10, 6-5 Big 12) swept the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (24-20, 2-7 Big 12) this weekend with a 5-2 win Sunday. Baylor was down two, but scored five unanswered runs for a win.

“It was very much needed,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “Hard to do, as we knew it would be, but the way we did it, coming from behind I think can go a long way.”

It was a pitching duel as the No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears defeated the Oklahoma State Cowgirls 2-0 on Friday. The Lady Bears needed a win to get their conference record over .500.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Heather Stearns was on the mound and almost pitched a perfect game. Stearns only allowed one hit, which came at the top of the sixth inning. She struck out 11 batters on the day.

In a classic pitching duel filled with late heroics, the Baylor Bears defeated the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners 2-1 on Friday night. With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Baylor’s first batter up at the plate, senior third baseman Cal Towey, hit a fastball deep to right field and the ball cleared the fence for an instant walk-off 2-1 win for the Bears.

The No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears will continue conference play with a three-game series against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The first game will be at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Getterman Stadium.

The No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners head to Waco for a three-game weekend series against the Baylor Bears. The Bears are 17-16 overall and are 5-3 in conference play. The Sooners, on the other hand, are 27-6 on the year and have posted a 7-2 record in Big 12 play.

Softball season is more than halfway over and the No. 16 Baylor Lady Bears have three more series left against Big 12 teams.

The Lady Bears (30-10, 3-5 Big 12) are currently fifth in the Big 12, so there is a lot of work to be done if they want to compete in the postseason.

The Baylor Bears baseball team experienced unprecedented success last season by posting a 49-17 record. Even though it is still early in the season, this year’s Baylor team has a 17-16 record on the diamond and is already one loss away from equaling last season’s total.

The No. 16 Lady Bears softball team defeated Texas State 7-3 after pulling through a ten-inning game at Bobcat Field in San Marcos. This is Baylor’s second win over the Bobcats this season.

“While you might hope for an easier win, if I were to draw up the game to get us prepared for Oklahoma State, it would look like that,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “Texas State challenged us in every facet of the game and made us work hard for everything.”

The Baylor Bears defeated UT Arlington on Tuesday night 14-4 at Baylor Ballpark. The win gives the Bears a winning record of 17-16.

Offensively, the Bears racked up 21 hits as a team and capitalized on a seven-run sixth inning to go on to win by the 10-run rule. The Bears were held scoreless before the offense suddenly caught fire in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
