The feeling of having to wait for someone to respond to your email can be so infuriating at times, so imagine how someone feels when you are the person they are waiting on. It’s the same feeling of seeing someone post on social media when they haven’t responded to your text — you know they’re on their phone, but they’re still making you wait.

For many students, college is the first time where they are away from their parents and living with other students. College is designed to be a bridge between fun and the real world and one of the only things that can make this experience bad is unpleasant roommates.

It’s true when you hear “Cs get degrees,” but that is no excuse not to put effort into each and every class you take. Strive for excellence, but know that you probably can’t conquer every class.

Advocates from Unbound Global, a Waco-based anti-trafficking organization, as well as Joseph Scaramucci, human trafficking detective for McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, were on the ground identifying possible traffickers, helping refugees cross the border into Poland safely and giving supplies to refugees. Scaramucci also said he helped train local law enforcement to fight human trafficking.

“So after she passed I wanted to find a way to help fundraise for a cure and I thought that combining music with this, especially as a musician myself, would be a special way to honor specifically her memory but also help everyone else in the process,” Ruston, La. senior Carlie Toliver said.

This year’s event will be the first since 2019 to be fully back to normal after COVID-19 restrictions prevented it from being held in 2020, and pushed it online in 2021. Houston junior Katherine Boulais, event coordinator with the Baylor Activities Council, said Gospel Fest’s return to campus has been a special thing for everyone involved.

“Although this music is a symbol of the Hispanic culture, its songs are enjoyed all over the world because of their ability to integrate our deepest emotions with music,” Herrera said. “Mariachi is our happiness, sadness, pride and love, told through music that directly touches our hearts.”

PRISM’s chartering has been a long time coming, whether you like it or not. Despite mixed reactions, Baylor students and staff should open themselves up to new opportunities, even if those opportunities aren’t for them specifically.

Walker’s extensive involvement in student government and thorough campaign are what pushed him over the edge, and the Editorial Board is confident that if elected, Walker will follow through on his promises and serve the student body extremely well. We know that he can ‘talk the T-A-L-K,’ and we believe Baylor will benefit most by ‘Walking with Walker.’

All four candidates for external vice president are well qualified and care very deeply about the university, but Nick Madincea has earned the endorsement of The Baylor Lariat for a reason. His professionalism, entrepreneurial outlook, work ethic and drive speak for themselves and make him the right choice to be Baylor’s next external vice president.

Baylor held a celebration for faculty and staff Monday in recognition of the university reaching R1 status — an achievement made in December 2021. The event was held at the Baylor Club at McLane Stadium and featured catered food, live music and an appearance from Bruiser and Marigold.
