It seems as though a student’s work load gets heavier each semester – each day, if we’re honest. With classes, work, homework, group projects, sleep and an attempt at holding a social life, it’s difficult to fit exercise in a “normal” hour range. And while Moody Memorial Library – a place for cognitive development – is open through the wee hours of each day, the McLane Student Life Center – a place for bodily development – does not offer equal hours of operation to Baylor students.

Over 200 people of all ages, colors and backgrounds gathered Monday at the Jubilee Theatre for Mission Waco’s production of “A Woman Called Truth: The Story of Sojourner Truth.” The production was a part of a daylong celebration addressing racial history and tensions of Waco.
Eight Waco nonprofit organizations are starting the new year thousands of dollars richer after Baylor’s inaugural “Philanthropy and the Public Good” course distributed $100,000 to those select organizations through a semester-long process.
The Baylor Bears played in its fifth straight bowl game this year, something that has never happened in program history. I was lucky enough to cover the 79th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington as part of the Lariat staff over the break. It was exhausting, exhilarating, thrilling and memorable all at the same time.

Early registration for the 13th Annual Bearathon is now open. The race includes the Toughest Half Marathon in Texas as well as a 5K. Dr. Edwin Trevathan will join Baylor as executive vice president and provost beginning June 1, 2015. Trevathan was selected from 20 potential applicants by a 14-person search committee comprised of faculty and staff. President and Chancellor Ken Starr announced the appointment today.
For the second year in a row the Bears take home the conference title, going down in history as only the second team to win back-to-back Big 12 Championships. Baylor secured the No. 5 spot in the College Football Playoffs, reserving their spot against No. 8 Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl. Baylor will look to prove their worth as a national powerhouse at 11:30 a.m. on New Years Day at AT&T Stadium.

The Cotton Bowl is one of the most storied bowl games in all of college football. Since its inaugural year in 1937, the Cotton Bowl has featured some of college football’s greatest teams and games of all-time, but took years for it to develop into the prestigious bowl it now has become.
When No. 6 Baylor football stepped into its brand new riverside stadium for its first season game on Aug. 31, the team had a lot to live up to. As defending Big 12 champions, the Bears were expected to do it again.
Senior quarterback Bryce Petty watched on the sidelines and saw teammate and Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III go down in the team’s shootout against Texas Tech on Nov. 26, 2011. Griffin had suffered a concussion and would not return to the game.
