Picture this: It’s 9 p.m. after the first Baylor home football game of the season. Of course, you’re riding high after a season-opening win, and you and your friends are looking for the perfect place to grab some dinner. Then comes the age-old question: Where do you go? Don’t worry, the Arts and Life Desk has you covered for a delicious post-game meal.

One of the most obvious choices for dinner after the game is Shorty’s Pizza Shack. There’s nothing better than a huge greasy pie after a long day of walking around McLane Stadium in whatever impractical footwear you wore this time. Delicious and cheap, this is probably one of the first spots people will think of, which makes it come with a drawback: the crowd. If you’re OK waiting a while for your food, hurry over to Shorty’s.
If you’re looking for something a little less crowded but no less filling, Taqueria Zacatecas is the place to be. One perk of “Taco Z” is that you can stay in your car and swing by the drive-thru instead of having to get out and wait or go any place where you’ll have to eat inside. Let’s face it, we all look a little bit worse for wear after a good game.

After a football game, driving over to Alpha Omega is the move. I love to get the chicken gyro, the Greek feta fries and a cold Diet Coke. This combination is the perfect way to cool down and have a great meal after a long day.
Going to The Mix Cafe is another great option. I usually get a Hawaiian chicken sandwich or feta walnut salad.

For post-game food, I think most students would agree that you can’t go wrong with La Milpa food truck on La Salle Avenue. It closes at 3:30 a.m. and will surely satisfy any cravings at a great price.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am ride or die for Helberg Barbecue — I even wrote a whole review on it. Since the game is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, you won’t be able to get Helberg’s afterward this week, but it opens for lunch at 11 a.m. the following day.

My all-time favorite post-football meal is Hecho en Waco. There is something about Mexican food after a long day outside boiling in the sun that just makes everything OK again. Also, Dr Pepper tastes better when you’re with your friends debriefing at a local Mexican restaurant. It’s the best.
My other favorite post-football place is Vitek’s. The stereotype of southern barbecue being the best holds so true, especially here. I love the layout of the restaurant and the way you order so quickly and easily. This is especially nice when you’re starving after a four-hour game. It’s a 10/10 from me.
