Brotherwell Brewing, a local brewery, is hosting a series of trivia nights every Thursday throughout November. Trivia will cover a variety of topics and will feature several different speakers from the Waco area.

Trivia nights will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting Oct. 28. Participating teams have the chance to earn prizes and points, as well as enjoy Brotherwell’s collection of taproom beer. Admission for each team is free and anyone can form a team.

Nathan Scott, Brotherwell’s taproom manager, said trivia night is a great way for friends to get together and test their knowledge.

“We host these events because we love seeing people come together and engage with the community,” Scott said.

Scott said the trivia consists of a current events section written mostly by the Brotherwell owners. The last section of trivia is done by a guest host, if there’s one present that night.

Dr. Stephen Sloan, associate professor of history and director of the Institute for Oral History at Baylor, is one of the guest speakers scheduled to host a section of trivia night. He has hosted trivia about Waco’s history at Brotherwell twice before.

“It was a great experience,” Sloan said. “I scripted and and gave questions on Waco history and the locals seemed to enjoy working together on a category based in their community’s past.”

Sloan runs his own podcast and mobile app on Waco history and said he has enjoyed being able to interact with those who have benefitted from his program.

Along with weekly trivia nights, Brotherwell hosts several other events including a market every third Sunday of the month, concerts, family nights and bicycle shows.
