This summer, the Waco Mammoth National Monument will celebrate its 10 year anniversary of becoming a recognized site by the National Park Foundation. This designation was the result of over six years of hard work between the park staff and Waco community, according to National Parks Service Site Manager Raegan King.

The Data Science Club at Baylor prepares students for a career in data science and related fields while also helping build a community among its members. The club organizes info sessions with companies, game nights, professional development workshops and real world projects.
The company Colossal Biosciences prides itself on being the first and only “de-extinction” company. They’ve gone viral recently for successfully restoring the long-extinct dire wolf, but many geneticists and scientists believe the situation is not as simple as it seems.
Baylor is heavily involved with the new STEM + M program. According to Horner, there will be a liaison between Midland and Baylor. Baylor also provides Midland with the curriculum for the courses the students are taking.
“We get asked to do a lot of things and partner with a lot of organizations,” Mullins said. “So I think anytime that we can make Baylor look good, which I think we do, I think that’s a good thing.”
However, many EPA workers and officials argue they need their budget to help protect the day-to-day health of the American public. From monitoring chemicals and goods in the marketplace to providing grants for environmental research and infrastructure to enforcing laws against environmental waste, the EPA isn’t just an environmental org, but a safety net for the health and safety of many Americans.
“I think what’s unique about Baylor is that there is that fourth component that I think all organizations should start with, just incorporating the faith throughout whatever we are doing,” Bui said.
The Gold Standard Award is an honor that faculty in the Robbins College receive if they have received the Pure Gold Award previously and are considered to be outstanding staff. Five are chosen from the Pure Gold Award recipients: outstanding staff, outstanding lecturer, outstanding clinical faculty, outstanding tenure-track faculty and outstanding tenured faculty. Adeyemi received the most outstanding lecturer this past semester.
Baylor Undergraduate Research in Science and Technology provides an opportunity for students of all fields of study interested in scientific research. The BURST club is an organization that aims to support students at the university who are either involved or aspire to be involved in undergraduate research.
Pinchen is among several students in the lab who are passionate about creating a happier life for those with dementia. She recalled that many of the patients light up and are so happy to be reconnected with songs they might not have heard in a while.
The question many Californians now have is how the state will rebuild and adapt for the next wildfire season. As of late, the wildfires have not been obeying the typical laws of nature. The wildfire season, which typically runs from May to October, has become more of a suggestion than a hard-set date.
“The students, I think, are all rising stars,” Jiang said. “I’m always motivated by them — even undergraduate students. Usually, they have a lot of course work but they still are very interested in frontier research so they dedicate a lot of time and effort [to] that.”
“The fact that our faculty are among the most cited of people across their disciplines says that the contributions that we’re making in those areas are meaningful and impactful, not just on our campus, but beyond our university and to the larger community.”
“At the end of the day, people are just looking for people to take ownership of some of the problems,” Klein said. “Being one of the few people who specializes in Wi-Fi puts me in the unique position of being able to take responsibility for it and make sure we get a fix implemented when something doesn’t work.”

As for how the relationship between an SI Leader and their students differs from that of a professor-student relationship, Mishra said that her role is to be more like the students’ friend and to keep the environment as lighthearted and fun as possible.
Alford describes how it can be hard to remain unbiased when analyzing responses of a subject group she is part of, being a daughter herself.
“There is a whole lot of carbon that gets stored in the bays — for example, the Galveston and Corpus Christi bays,” Fulton said. “One of the questions we have is if sea level is rising — and it is rising pretty fast — how will that change the way carbon gets stored in these coastal bays?”
The Science Research Fellows is a student research-based program that diligently research year-round on different projects and passions to help foster medical connections for graduate school and beyond.
The support Martini received from her own teaching fellows in her freshman year made her want to become one and give back the aspect of community that was instilled in her.

The hands-on, interactive nature of labs may cause many to assume that blind or visually impaired students cannot participate. However, Dr. Bryan Shaw, a chemistry and biochemistry professor, is proving them wrong through his efforts to make labs accessible for all.
This semester, Baylor’s department of physics welcomed Dr. Benjamin Rose as an assistant professor of physics and project leader for NASA’s infrastructure research for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. The project requires $11 million in funding and began its next stage in October.
Quinene joined Baylor from UT Health San Antonio’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies program, where she served as the Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator since 2015. Her experience and expertise spread far and wide as a licensed physician assistant with experience in various fields, including traumatic brain injury.
The Baylor Center for Microscopy and Imaging held a ribbon cutting and demonstration for the recently acquired $8 million microscope. Dr. Bernd Zechmann, director of the Center for Microscopy and Imaging, said the transmission electron microscope has multiple uses and benefits.
The symposium will include presentations, talks and posters on completed research, in-progress research and research ideas. According to the digital flyer for the symposium, any undergraduate currently conducting research and any graduate student with a poster or presentation, are encouraged to apply to the sessions by submitting an abstract using the QR code before the submission deadline of April 12.
