The panel discussion Tuesday where Corbett spoke concluded the Rethink Missions Conference.

The discussion was between the keynote speakers Dr. Jayakumar Christian, Steve Corbett, Dr. Dennis Wiles and Cindy Wiles and conference participants.

People are different. And that’s OK, according to Steve Corbet in a lecture on Monday.

Corbet, one of the keynote speakers at the Rethink Missions conference, wasted no time talking pragmatics and responsibility in missions. Just hours before, Dr. Jayakumar Christian, of World Vision India, lectured on the Christian community’s response to a world of poverty and bad power structures.

Millions cry and nobody seems to be able to hear them.

Monday morning during chapel, Dr. Jayakumar Christian introduced students to the story of a girl he met in India. Christian is the national director of World Vision India.

A dinner swipe at Penland costs $9.25. Millions of people in the world could not afford it.

“Eight hundred and thirty six million people live on $2 a day,” Dr. Jayakumar Christian said during a lecture Monday in Truett Theological Seminary.

These days, many people have a T-shirt from a missions trip or a Facebook photo holding an impoverished child.

Multiple Baylor departments and organizations have partnered to create the ReThink Missions Conference in an effort to discuss how to make missions more effective.
