Due to the rainy weather in Waco Wednesday, the No. 5 Baylor women’s tennis team was forced to move its home match to the Lion Indoor Tennis Center in Ennis.

Baylor women’s tennis senior Diana Nakic had a three-set win to advance through qualifying to the main draw of the ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championship on Wednesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The men’s tennis team’s journey came to an end on Thursday in the main draw of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

The No. 13 ranked men’s tennis team beat the rival No. 8 Texas Longhorns in Austin, 4-3, and made a major statement to not only the conference but the entire nation.

There was a window of opportunity for No. 18 SMU to pull an upset over the ninth-ranked Baylor women’s tennis team Wednesday, but the Lady Bears quickly made sure they slammed that window shut.

From the first toss to the last winner, the 10th-ranked Baylor women’s tennis team dominated the Kentucky Wildcats Wednesday. The Bears swept the dual match 7-0 and did not drop a set in singles play.

After falling short in a comeback effort versus No. 23 Virginia in the first round of the ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championship, the No. 3 Lady Bears fought back to earn two consecutive victories over top-15 teams and finish the weekend in Charlottesville, Va., on a positive note.

A frigid blast of winter weather chilled Central Texas, forcing the seventh-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team to move the match to Lion Tennis Center in Ennis last Thursday.
