There are definitely some noteworthy and deserving winners of the awards, but in general, I believe the biggest categories are given to the biggest stars. In other words, commercial success is prioritized over musical talent.

Kweller had experienced a nosebleed on stage and attempted to stop the blood with a tampon thrown on stage by an audience member, which only lasted two songs, and then Kweller had to leave. The next day, Coyne put fake blood on his forehead and asked the audience members to throw tampons at him to help absorb the blood.

This spring was a much more competitive semester for music. Just over 42% of the chart is taken up by albums with only one or two students choosing them as a favorite. Even the most hotly-anticipated albums are spread more evenly, as Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” only claimed 25% of the results.

Every girl you know posted this album over spring break on her Instagram story. And it was for a good reason, for the most part. I’d say about half of this whopping 36-song record is worth your time. “Keith Whitley” is part of that good half, an homage to one of country music’s beloved ‘80s stars.

Speaking of indie, Hippo Campus is one of those bands that I “gatekept” in high school so that I could remain cool for as long as possible. I’m doing a 180 on that now. Do me a favor and listen to “Kick in the Teeth” by Hippo Campus.

Unless you’ve been hibernating in the arctic tundra for the past few months, you have probably heard of Miley Cyrus’ controversial shenanigans or seen a .gif of her twerking at the VMAs.

After taking a hiatus from music, Miley has certainly made a strong come-back. Her new wardrobe, which apparently consists only of crop tops and disco shorts, screams “I’m no longer Hannah Montana!” and with every new single, Miley acts more and more provocative.
