McLennan County is undertaking a $50 million remodel of the former county jail into a new justice center that will include additional courtrooms and office space, aiming to reduce overcrowding and case backlogs. Construction is already underway, with completion expected by late 2026 into early 2027.

Sedillio’s wrongful detainment highlights a broader issue in Texas’ justice system; with the rate of wrongful convictions being estimated between 2% and 6%, there are 3,000 to 9,000 innocent people in Texas prisons today, according to the Innocence Project of Texas.
Gibson, who was wanted in connection with the murder of 39-year-old Winfred Talley Jr., was apprehended in Arlington, Texas. He now faces murder charges and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail pending extradition to McLennan County.
“The evidence of a sexual relationship was/is present from 2007-2012 in emails, text messages, and corroborated by repeated predatory behaviors by Anthony Odiong that have appeared amongst nearly every survivor identified (10 thus far) to date,” DeLange said.
According to a press release issued by Cierra Shipley, a spokesperson for Waco PD, Odiong was arrested on July 16 by the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force. The arrest stemmed from a charge of possession of child pornography.
