With only three hits on the evening, the No. 17 Baylor Lady Bears softball team lost on the road to No. 15 Texas A&M 6-1 at the Aggie Softball Complex in College Station.

After advancing to the Women’s College World Series semi finals and finishing fourth in the nation, No. 7 Baylor softball is back in action, “fueled by their past and driven by the future they seek.”

As a record crowd of 1,484, showed up to green out Getterman Stadium, the No. 3 Texas Longhorns shut out the Lady Bears’ softball team, 3-0.

Lightning lengthened and then cut short No. 14 Baylor softball’s home matchup against Texas State Tuesday, but not before the Bears took a 4-1, five-inning win into the locker room.

The Baylor softball team defeated the Missouri Tigers 3-2 with a walk-off sac-fly to right center on Saturday; however, it could not maintain this momentum as it went into Sunday’s game, losing 6-0.

Last weekend the battle between the No. 17 Baylor and No. 21 Texas A&M softball teams proved how tough conference play will be in 2011 as they split the series, both with walk-off home runs. Baylor took the first game Saturday, 2-1, in 11 innings and Texas A&M took the second, 6-5.

The No. 15 Baylor Lady Bears went 1-1 against the University of North Texas Wednesday night, dropping the last game of the double header in nine innings.

After coming off a big week, there was some worry that the Baylor Lady Bears softball team might let up on the University of Texas at Arlington on Tuesday night.

After 14 straight wins by the Baylor Lady Bears, the streak was snapped in a pitchers’ dual Sunday against the University of Houston Cougars, falling 1-0.

With the ice around Waco thawing and temperatures steadily rising, it’s time to go to your local convenient store, grab some sunflower seeds and a Dr Pepper, and head to Getterman Stadium. Softball season is officially under way.
