Since 1947, copyright ownership of the Baylor fight song has remained uncertain. Now, Baylor finally has an arrangement that will allow the university to claim ownership, preserving tradition for generations to come.

For most fans of the green and gold, football season starts when hundreds of jersey-clad freshmen rush the field to fill “That Good Old Baylor Line.” For members of the Golden Wave Band, however, it starts in the sweltering August heat across from the Baylor Science Building a week before classes begin.

What do hip-hop dancing, show tunes and comedy have in common? All of them were showcased at the third annual BUGWB’s Got Talent Wednesday night in the McCrary Music Building.

While Baylor football battles it out on the field week after week, certain people and programs behind the scenes carry on Baylor traditions and create the well-known atmosphere of excitement at McLane Stadium.

Although he has a passion for music, Garland junior Ceon Rumphs actually never intended to become a drum major. But this year, after three years at Baylor, he became the Golden Wave Marching Band’s first African-American drum major.
