Although a draft of the university’s new strategic plan will not be available until November, the Baylor family can now see how the Strategic Themes Committee has interpreted their input. The committee’s report was made available online Aug. 12, after being received by President Ken Starr and the Executive Council on June 24.

Campaign season has been largely unproblematic so far this year — with only one charge brought against a student government candidate — which some believe is a result of the recent revisions to the electoral code. The season will begin wrapping up today, with voting beginning at 8 a.m.

Every year the Lariat editorial board interviews student body officer candidates in order to understand platforms, gauge abilities and represent the student body’s voice. This year’s editorial board has chosen to continue the endorsements. We are endorsing Falls City junior Michael Lyssy for internal vice president and Corpus Christi junior Angela Gray for external vice president.

Today marks the start of full campaigning for student body officers as students seek leadership positions to give back to our community. Each year the Lariat interviews the student body officer candidates and endorses one candidate for each position.

Baylor Student Government hosted the fourth annual “Blinded” event in Barfield Drawing Room on Tuesday in a continued effort to encourage discussion between students on controversial topics.
