Though BSM has been housed in a single room in the Bobo Spiritual Life Center since the 1970s, the new facility on 4th Street and Daugherty Avenue will provide ample space for BSM’s staff and various ministries. The new building will be fitted with a 400-person capacity event room, offices for staff, a prayer room, a common area with ping-pong tables and a For Keeps coffee shop.

“For a university to even have a mission trip commissioning is like empowering,” he said. “Baylor recognizes that students are going on mission and, even further, supports us in prayer and commissioning. It’s an incredible feeling.”

Located at the corner of 4th Street and Daughtrey Avenue, the new building is estimated to be 12,000 square feet. The plan includes a coffee shop and pickleball court alongside the multipurpose space.

In past years, the Santa’s Workshop team at Baylor has donated toys and other fun items so children from low-income families in Waco could receive a gift from Santa. This year, the team is looking to gift books and reading materials instead.

The 2012 “Seminary Day” at Baylor will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Bobo Spiritual Life Center and will feature at least 20 seminaries and divinity schools from around the nation.
