Baylor football was hardly even on the radar at the beginning of last season. The preseason Associated Press poll in 2013 had Baylor on the outside looking in, and the preseason Big 12 poll picked the Bears to finish fifth, behind Texas, TCU and both Oklahoma teams.
For the first time in program history, the Bears showed up with the target on their back as defending Big 12 Champions. Despite the success, Baylor coach Art Briles has not budged an inch on his underdog mentality.

Freshman Vince Schneider traveled all the way from Mannheim, Germany, to play tennis for the Bears. Schneider reached the 2012 Doubles Finals in the German Championships, won both the singles and doubles competition in the 2012 ITF Tournament, and was named to the German Junior Davis Cup Team. As a Bear, Schneider has competed in both doubles and single matches in the Big 12.
The final stretch of the regular season began for Baylor baseball, but the Bears failed to start on the right foot, falling to Sam Houston State 4-2 Tuesday at Baylor Ballpark.
For the first time since 2009, Baylor baseball was swept at home by a Big 12 rival. The Bears hung in the balance late in games one and three, but the Kansas Jayhawks’ offense thumped a lethal strike to Baylor’s Big 12 championship hopes over the weekend by earning a three-game road sweep.

The Bears lose three players to graduation: senior power forward Cory Jefferson, senior guard Gary Franklin and senior guard Brady Heslip.
