“One of our readers said, ‘You know, Tidwell is actually a character,’” Nogalski said. “The Tidwell Building is actually a character in this novel, but so is Baylor University, because it’s all over the campus.”

“I taught Amy Tan for years, but decided I needed to do better,” Hoffman said. “I needed to grow in my understanding of Asian American literature, and so I began a journey of reading and teaching other texts.”

Fabled Bookshop & Cafe is hosting its third annual Local Author Book Faire from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday to support local writers and promote a community of book lovers in the area.
