Fans knew there was something different about Isaiah Austin’s eyes. You could see it when he played. It was hard to place exactly what, but it was obvious. On Jan. 18, Austin made everything clear in a feature that aired on ESPN’s College Gameday.
Isaiah Austin, former five-star prospect, All-Big 12 and future NBA player, is blind in his right eye.
It was clear in the first few possessions that Texas Tech was going to be in an uphill battle against the No. 9 Lady Bears. Baylor handily defeated Texas Tech 92-43 at the Ferrell Center on Wednesday.
The Lady Bears (17-3, 7-1) started the half with poise, finding quality looks for senior guard Odyssey Sims, senior guard Makenzie Robertson and freshman forward Nina Davis throughout the half.
Sophomore jumper Felix Obi led the Baylor Bears to personal and national records this past weekend at the University of Kentucky’s Rod McCravy Memorial meet at Nutter Field House.
Baylor men and women showcased their talents, especially Obi, who won the triple jump event. Obi broke his own record as well as set a new school record.
Coming off a big road victory against Oklahoma State, Baylor jumps back into conference play against Texas Tech at 7 p.m. today at the Ferrell Center.
Although Tech’s record (6-13, 0-8) may indicate it is an inferior team to Baylor (16-3, 6-1), the Lady Raiders are a team with grit and determination.
Baylor looked like one of the best teams in the nation a few weeks ago. Baylor’s only loss coming into conference play was against Syracuse, a team now ranked No. 2 in the nation. Baylor is falling right out of the conversation for the NCAA Tournament and that was accentuated Tuesday night in Waco.
