Since the beginning of the 2011-12 season, Baylor has been the most dominant basketball power in the state of Texas. In that span, the Bears have posted a record of 19-1 against teams from the state of Texas. No. 12 Baylor (13-2, 1-1) will put it all on the line as they travel to Lubbock to play in-state conference rival Texas Tech (8-8, 0-3) on Wednesday night.

The No. 7 Baylor Lady Bears (14-2) lost 66-55 to No. 1 Connecticut (18-0) on Monday at the Ferrell Center. The loss ended a 69-game home winning streak that stretched back to March 7, 2010. The Bears’ only two losses this season have come at the hands of top five teams.

Baylor’s 52-42 loss to the University of Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl can be summed up pretty concisely. After looking at the stat sheet, the number of penalties and penalty yards stand out. What the stat sheet doesn’t show, however, is the number of missed tackles that helped UCF get the ball down the field.

No. 6 Baylor football came into the 43rd annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl as double-digit favorites over No. 15 University of Central Florida. By the time the dust cleared, UCF had pulled one of the biggest upsets of the year with a 52-42 win over the Bears on New Year’s Day.

The 43rd annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl features No. 6 Baylor (11-1, 8-1), champions of the Big 12, against No. 15 University of Central Florida (11-1, 8-0) from the American Athletic Conference. At the half, Baylor trails UCF 28-20.

After nearly a month off the field, No. 6 Baylor football (11-1, 8-1) has made the trek to the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale to play No. 15 University of Central Florida (11-1, 8-0) in the 43rd annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
