Baylor fired head coach Dave Aranda Sunday morning following the Bears’ loss to Kansas. While it was a turbulent weekend for football, soccer stays tied atop the Big 12 and volleyball splits a pair of five-set thrillers.
No. 24 Baylor volleyball was primed to add another marquee win to its win streak, leading two sets to none. No. 17 Kansas spoiled those plans with with a reverse sweep Sunday.
Senior forward Reese Ross contributed on both sides of the floor in her Baylor debut, scoring 16 points and recording three steals in the Bears’ 96-56 exhibition win over West Texas A&M.
Senior forward Callie Conrad, junior defender Sydney Miller and senior forward Lauren Omholt each found the back of the net as No. 9 Baylor edged Arizona 3-2. The Bears remain tied for first in the Big 12 and will face No. 14 Texas Tech in Lubbock on Friday.

ARTS & LIFE
While preceded by inflatables and followed by fireworks, The Fray’s performance itself was what pumped up and lit up the audience Friday night at Silobration.
“Friday’s article states that the Texas House Bill “could require Baylor to allow licensed students to bring concealed weapons onto campus.” An additional important point is that it would also allow licensed faculty to carry concealed firearms onto campus. Since the minimum age to get a CHL (concealed handgun license) is 21, it is plausible that more faculty might carry than students.”

There is little denying that Generation Y is one of constant communication. You want to reach someone from Gen Y? Pick your poison: Will you call them? Maybe shoot a text message off? You could reach them by email, possibly to two or more e-mail addresses. Perhaps you will use Facebook chat or send a message? Maybe both? If you wanted to get really creative, you could even tag them in a tweet.
I find it ironic that our nation, which calls itself tolerant and promotes freedom of expression, seems to be slowly evolving into stricter censorship of speech and literature in an effort to create and maintain a more complacent society.
“As a new wave of elections approaches, there are numerous modifications and amendments that student government needs to consider.”
A new spring semester brings a new round of elections for current members and hopeful candidates of Baylor’s student government. Each election process seems to be the same: Candidates submit their applications and are reminded to comply with the electoral code, which sets general rules about campaigning policies.
