The Waco chapter of the NAACP is celebrating 90 years of advocacy, marking nearly a century of civil rights work in the community while continuing to invest in the future generations through scholarships.

I want to thank the Lariat’s Rob Bradfield for his well-written opinion piece in yesterday’s paper. While it was principally composed of misinformation, unfounded accusations and the sort of tinfoil hat theories generally reserved for Dan Brown novels, it does raise questions about some important issues.

At last Thursday’s Student Senate meeting, the Senate voted to recommend renovating five university dorms – Collins, Penland, North Russell, South Russell and Martin. While the plans aren’t final, they will likely call for adding additional student lounge and study spaces, improving bathrooms, replacing floors and ceilings and improving the technological capacities of the residence halls. The plan would be implemented over the next 15 to 20 years.

“I recently read an editorial in The Baylor Lariat supporting my recent actions against the Transportation Security Authority. I am glad to see editorial support in defense of the individual against the overreaching state. I also enjoyed the cartoon that accompanied this editorial.”
