Moderna recently received $590 million to help develop vaccines to fight the virus. Their protein-based vaccines have had great success against other pathogens such as COVID-19, and having them in great supply could help quell any future pandemic.
Penland Dining Hall held its annual Lunar New Year celebration on Tuesday, one day ahead of the holiday. Students were given the opportunity to have a traditional red envelope embroidered by local artist, Jamie Wong Baesa, watch dance performances from the Baylor Lion Dance Team and Indonesian Culture Center, and try some of Food Network celebrity Chef Jet Tila’s cooking.
“It’s about we as a collective university and our work here to help students become more the person He’s created them to be –– mind, body and soul,” Jackson said. “Everything we’ve done under my leadership has moved us in that direction.”
Students looking to embrace the great outdoors this semester can take advantage of a lineup of activities offered by Outdoor Adventure. From scenic hikes and camping trips to rock climbing and kayaking, the spring schedule promises opportunities for exploration, fitness and fun catering to all skill levels.

Lilia Gonzalez, director of nurses, said Health Services would remain available to monitor potential measles outbreaks and help students. Though the Texas measles outbreak has ended, Health Services continues providing preventative measures for other potential outbreaks.
