“Waco ISD does intend to include the AP African American Studies course in possible 2022-2023 high school course offerings later this school year to gauge student interest,” Cornblum said via email.
“I think a struggle we have at Baylor is that we’ve settled for the lowest bar of being a believer in Jesus,” Bowden said. “Some people may take the step of being a disciple of Jesus and getting to know Him in full relationship and going to places where He would have gone. But very few of us step to being a disciple-maker, of where I invest in people.”
The first Black graduates statue has been in the works diligently since the completion of the Commission on Historic Campus representations back in 2020, Dr. Malcolm Foley, special advisor to the president for equity and campus engagement, said.
Around 2,500 students showed up for this semester’s Career Day, according to Rylander. Recruiters were there to get to know students and explain their company further.
