With flu season underway, Dr. Sharon Stern, medical director at the Baylor Health Center, shared what students, faculty and staff should know about this semester’s outbreak.
Waco High School was put on lockdown and evacuated Tuesday afternoon to the BASE Extraco Events Center after an active shooter was falsely reported on campus. Waco Police tweeted at 2:21 p.m. that the department was aware of the situation and on the scene. Eighteen minutes later, Waco PD sent out another tweet saying there is no indication of an active shooter, but the department was still clearing the building to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Baylor’s Air Force and Army ROTC programs joined forces Saturday to host their annual 5K memorial run in honor of 9/11.
The Consortium for the Awareness of Rare Disorders (CARDS), a pre-health student organization, has the goal of teaching its members about rare disorders they may encounter in patients during their undergraduate training and professional careers.

Lilia Gonzalez, director of nurses, said Health Services would remain available to monitor potential measles outbreaks and help students. Though the Texas measles outbreak has ended, Health Services continues providing preventative measures for other potential outbreaks.
