Weeks after New York enacted the nation’s toughest gun laws, California lawmakers said Thursday they want their state to do even more in response to recent mass shootings, particularly the Connecticut school massacre.
Democrats who control the state Legislature revealed 10 proposals that they said would make California the most restrictive state for possessing firearms.
Student Government debated a bill at length Thursday that calls Baylor’s administration to action to make $10,000 worth of improvements to the Bear Trail.
The bill’s author, Arlington sophomore Dominic Edwards, explained to the Student Senate that the bill calls for the administration to install two stretching structures at the start of the Bear Trail, additional water fountains along the trial, as well as additional lighting and signage showing the correct path to follow.

Baylor Law School ranked 24th in the Top 25 Law Schools in the nation, according to GraduatePrograms.com.
The rankings, released Tuesday, came as a result of student ratings and reviews from more than 4,000 graduate students and recent graduates from over 150 accredited law schools across the United States. The rankings use a 10-star system, with one star being the lowest and 10 stars being the best.

Texas voters turned out in historic numbers Tuesday, delivering victories for State Rep. James Talarico and forcing a runoff between Attorney General Ken Paxton and incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s U.S. Senate contest that claimed national attention. The total early-voting turnout of more than 2.5 million marks the highest ever for a midterm primary election. The results also kicked off the 2026 midterm cycle.
