March Madness 2025
After a superstar career at Midway High School, Rice forward Caden Powell is headed back to his hometown. The rising senior is the sixth incoming Baylor transfer, he announced Monday afternoon.
For the first time since the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season, Baylor men’s basketball finished with an offense ranked outside the top 100. Head coach Scott Drew isn’t about to let that happen again.
The 7-foot big man started in all 71 games his first two seasons at High Point, averaging 6.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
The sixth-year guard will become the Bears’ No. 1 scoring option after averaging 17.6 points per game for the Cowboys.
The move “surprised” Baylor’s coaching staff, according to ESPN. The five-star freshman made the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, averaging 11.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
For the first time in 35 years, No. 9 TCU women’s basketball knocked off rival No. 25 Baylor, 80-75, after the Bears’ attempted 22-point comeback fell just short.
“I think it’s definitely a lesson learned. We maybe didn’t do so well for this game, so we just took it to the next game and went here and out,” Littlepage-Buggs said. “We do have these next couple games coming up, and we are probably going to get really detailed about what things we could’ve done better and how to, because they have somebody tall, move with them and move the ball and where we could score at.”
With nothing to lose, No. 25 Baylor women’s basketball put No. 1 UCLA on the ropes early, but dominant post-play by the Bruins kept them undefeated, taking down the Bears, 72-57, in the inaugural Coretta Scott King Classic Monday afternoon at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Junior forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs racked up a game-high 21 points and 20 rebounds, while senior center Aaronette Vonleh added 20 points as Baylor women’s basketball knocked off UNLV, 71-63, Sunday afternoon at Foster Pavilion.
Led by senior forward Sarah Andrews, Baylor basketball went up against Texas Southern. With a dominant performance from Andrews as well as junior forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, the Bears took the win 101-29.
